The EEOC has opened the 2024 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection. All covered employers must submit employee demographic data (race, ethnicity, sex) by Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

What's next?

·         Submit and certify your EEO-1 Component 1 report by the deadline.

·         Do NOT use EEO-1 data to make employment decisions based on race, sex, or other protected characteristics—this violates Title VII.

Who Must File an EEO-1 Report?

1. Private-Sector Employers - 100 or more employees, regardless of industry or federal contracts.

2. Federal Contractors and First-Tier Subcontractors

·         Have 50 or more employees, AND:

o    Hold a federal contract or subcontract worth $50,000 or more, OR

o    Serve as a depository of government funds, OR

o    They are an issuing and paying agent for U.S. savings bonds and notes.

Important Policy Updates

·         Under a new Executive Order 14281, the EEOC will deprioritize “disparate impact” enforcement and focus on intentional discrimination.

·         Employers are advised to ensure equal treatment and avoid race- or sex-based employment preferences.
